About me

picture

I am a PhD candidate at the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). My supervisors are Prof. Dr. Sonja SmetsDr. Jakub Szymanik, Prof. Dr. Mark van Vugt and Dr. Michiel van Elk.

After receiving a BSc. in Psychology (honors), with a specialization in clinical neuropsychology in 2011, I finished a research MSc. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences (cum laude) in 2013.

Currently I am doing research on moral cognition. Are humans born with a sense of right and wrong? Or do we have to be taught what is good and what is not? I try to answer this question by combining empirical studies with modelling techniques borrowed from formal logic.

Research interests

Besides moral psychology I have a broad scope of academic interests. I am interested in research on intelligence, evolutionary psychology, game theory, motivation, psychology of religion, developmental and educational psychology. I also have a philosophical appetite for philosophy of mind, ethics and philosophy of science/ epistemology.
