Hi there! I am Gert-Jan Munneke, a psychologist, cognitive neuroscientist, data scientist, entrepreneur and family man based in Almere, the Netherlands.
After receiving a BSc. in Psychology (honors), with a specialization in clinical neuropsychology in 2011, I finished a research MSc. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences (cum laude) in 2013. I did PhD. research on moral cognition. Are humans born with a sense of right and wrong? Or do we have to be taught what is good and what is not? I tried to answer this question by combining empirical studies with modelling techniques borrowed from formal logic and experimental techniques from cognitive neuroscience. The PhD. research was conducted at the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). My supervisors were Prof. Dr. Sonja Smets, Dr. Jakub Szymanik, Prof. Dr. Mark van Vugt and Dr. Michiel van Elk.
Currently I work as a Sr. data scientist, analytics consultant and product owner in the mobility sector where I am responsible for the roll out of an Advanced Analytics road map centerred around people, projects and tooling. In the evening hours I am following an MBA in big data and business analytics at the University of Amsterdam.
In the final months of the year I am active as a board member (secretary) at a non-profit organisation called stichting Heerlijk Avondje. This foundation helps low income families in the Netherlands with celebrating Santa Claus (Dutch: Sinterklaas) by providing them with food, clothing and toys.
In my free time I love to do sports (boxing, kickboxing and weight lifting), read and spend time with my family :)
